Gov Beshear Lays out Timeline for KY Reopening

( Frankfort, Kentucky ) - Governor Andy Beshear on Wednesday laid out the schedule his administration has come up with for reopening certain business sectors as the coronavirus pandemic continues.

In his daily briefing (see above), Beshear announced the plan for when companies and organizations can resume more normal activity. The governor stressed multiple times, however, that these reopenings are contingent on safety. He says there must be policies in place to keep people separated, conduct daily health checks, cleaning, and more, something he calls Healthy At Work.

  • May 11: Manufacturing, construction, car/boat dealers, professional services (at 50% capacity), horse racing (no fans), pet grooming/boarding
  • May 20: Retail, houses of worship (just religious service, no Sunday school)
  • May 25: Barbershops/salons/cosmetology, social gatherings up to ten people

Governor Beshear says restaurants/bars, swimming pools, summer camps, and day care will not be reopening in the above "Phase 1" schedule, and some of them likely won't happen in "Phase 2," either.
