TriState Doctors Begin Treating COVID-19 Patients with Plasma

Recent studies show it can be a life saver. Plasma treatment for COVID-19 is now being used in the TriState. Hoxworth Blood Center is taking plasma from people who have recovered from the virus and are transfusing it into patients battling coronavirus.

The Hoxworth Blood Center is coordinating the plasma donations and Doctor David Oh says studies have shown that the treatment has been very effective in reducing the viral levels of COVID 19 patients within 24 hours. For many patients it means avoiding a stay in the intensive care unit or going on a ventilator.

If you have already had the virus and recovered, you are asked to consider a plasma donation.
