Butler County Man Dies of COVID-19

( Hamilton, OH ) - The first death from COVID-19 has been reported in Southwest Ohio.

Butler County Health Commissioner Jennifer Bailer announced Tuesday that an 86 year-old Hamilton man died on Sunday after contracting the virus.

The man passed away one day after the Hamilton Fire Department transported him to a local hospital to be tested. The four Department members who took him to the hospital were quarantined after the man's test results came back positive Monday night. They will stay in isolation for 14 days.

At this point it is unclear how the man contracted the virus. He has not yet been identified.

Additionally, Health Commissioner Bailer announced seven new cases of COVID-19 in the County on Tuesday. That brings the total number of cases to 38.
