MLS Season Suspended

(New York, NY) -- The two-week old Major League Soccer season is being suspended for 30 days because of the coronavirus outbreak. The league announced Thursday that it was taking the action to help contain the spread of COVID-19. It joins the NBA in making that decision so far.

FC Cincinnati was scheduled to play DC United this Saturday at Nippert Stadium. As of now, MLS says it is suspending play for 30 days.

FCC says it is following guidance from MLS. The FC Cincinnati Foundation's "Served by the Pros" event set for later this month is being rescheduled. Same goes for player appearances and service projects.

"We strongly support the league’s stance to temporarily halt the season as a precaution, and have been working for several days to get to, and prepare for, this outcome," said Team President Jeff Berding in a statement. "This is an unprecedented situation, and we look forward to further guidance from MLS, public health officials and government officials as we plot the near future."
