Enquirer: Cincinnati No Longer Hosting 2022 NCAA Tournament Games

The NCAA has confirmed to the Enquirer that Cincinnati will no longer hold first and second round games of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament in 2022.

The new site for those games, originally scheduled to be played at Heritage Bank Center, will move to Banker's Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

In 2017, Cincinnati won a bid to host games for the first time in three decades, but due to a lack of renovations at Cincinnati's 44 year-old arena, the NCAA made the decision to relocate.

The University of Cincinnati was serving as the host of the 2022 games.

A source told the Enquirer moving the games to Fifth-Third Arena on UC's campus or Xavier's Cintas Center was not possible due mainly to capacity.

Heritage Bank Center holds 17,556 people. Fifth-Third holds just over 12,000 and the Cintas Center just over 10,200.

The NCAA says Cincinnati will have the chance to host future NCAA tournament games.
