Man and Woman Charged with Attacking Police, Knocking Officers Unconscious

( Villages at Roll Hill ) - The president of the Cincinnati FOP calls the assault outrageous.

Two police officers were seriously injured as they were responding to a domestic violence report on Friday morning at an apartment on Nottingham Road. The initial call said a male suspect had a gun and was assaulting the caller and her sister.

When they arrived on-scene, police say 26-year-olds Derrick Owens Jr and Shaunice Dickerson resisted arrest and fought police. "Those officers were assaulted severely. Both received head injuries. The female officer had her nose broken... has a large gash also in her face," Sgt Dan Hils says. The male and female officer were also knocked unconscious.

A statement from the department says Owens and Dickerson struggled with police for six minutes, and at one point, Owens grabbed an officer's taser.

Both officers have since been treated and released from the hospital.

Owens is charged with felonious assault on an officer, robbery, and resisting arrest. Dickerson is charged with assault on police and resisting arrest.
