Two Years Later, Gunman Charged in Deadly Father/Daughter Shooting

( Covington, Kentucky ) - After a two-year investigation, the Kenton County Prosecutor says a suspect has now been charged in a deadly shooting in Covington's Eastside community.

27-Year-Old Jermaine Beamon (pictured) is charged with murder and more in the shooting of 24-year-old Lazuri Collins and her father, Antonio, in the summer of 2017.

Investigators say the Collins were riding in a car together near the intersection of 13th and Wheeler when gunfire hit their car. Lazuri Collins died from her injuries and Antonio was wounded. A suspect in a hoodie ran from the area, and the case has gone nowhere since.

On Friday, Prosecutor Rob Sanders announced that Beamon has been indicted. He's currently in the Butler County Jail on an unrelated crime, and when his sentence there ends next month, he'll be extradited to Kentucky. In a statement, Sanders says the arrest should've happened two years ago, but uncooperative witnesses hampered the investigation.
