( Fairfield, OH ) - Police in Fairfield have identified the man who was allegedly threatening students outside of the Fairfield Alumni Football Stadium on Wednesday.
Officers were called out to the field around 3pm after a 911 caller said the man possibly had a gun. The police arrived within three minutes of being notified and arrested 22 year-old Joseph Mattia.
The investigation is still on going but preliminary findings indicate that Mattia was upset about an interaction between Fairfield students and members of his family during last weeks game against Hamilton.
Despite reports of Mattia being in possession of a firearm, no gun was found. No students or staff were harmed during this incident.
Mattia has been charged with (2) counts of menacing, trespassing, and disorderly conduct, all 4th degree misdemeanors. He is scheduled to appear in Fairfield Municipal Court on November 27th.
