( Cincinnati ) - It was April 3, 2019, when Brian Rini allegedly approached police officers in Newport, Kentucky, claiming to be Timothy Pitzen. Pitzen was last seen in Aurora, Illinois, in 2011 when he was 6-years-old, meaning he would be about 14 by now. Rini allegedly told the responding officers that he was held captive for years by men who sexually abused him. Federal prosecutors say the problem is: Brian Rini is 24-years-old and from Medina, Ohio.
Rini is charged with lying to federal agents and aggravated identity theft. A federal judge on Thursday ruled him competent to stand trial. That's now set to happen in January.
