(Hamilton, OH) - The Butler County Sheriff's Office says it has charged a Hamilton woman after the "severely emaciated" dog she owns was found on Knightsbridge last week.
The dog, Lucy, has severe diabetes and the owner allegedly failed to properly care for her.
The owner, Christina N. Sharp of Hamilton, is charged with cruelty to a companion animal, a 1st degree misdemeanor, failure to license which is a 4th degree misdemeanor, plus failure to confine which is a misdemeanor in the 4th degree.
The pit bull mix was hospitalized over the weekend. Sheriff Richard K. Jones says "Lucy’s condition after being cared for is like night and day, not only physically but you can see she is happier. She will continue to get the care she needs. We will not tolerate this treatment towards animals in this county.”
