City Council Passes Hair Discrimination Ban

Cincinnati City Council Wednesday passed an ordinance introduced by Councilman Chris Seelbach that protects residents, of all races and genders, from discrimination based on their natural hairstyle.

The issue came to Seelbach's attention when he heard about African-American women who say they have been discriminated against in the workplace due to their hair.

Cincinnati is the second city in the country to outlaw such discrimination.

New York City and California outlawed hair discrimination earlier this year.
