Even though he was a corrections officer, Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell says John Hinkle is not above the law. Hinkle who is 52 is now facing a long prison sentence himself for beating an inmate.
A jury has convicted Hinkle of felonious assault for striking an inmate with his baton. A video of the incident shows that the prisoner was on his knees and handcuffed behind his back at the time that he was hit. Fornshell admits prison guards have a tough job but he says that does not "give them permission to use deadly force against an inmate when it is not justified."
