Maineville Mayor Killed in Crash

(Maineville, OH) - The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash between a lawn mower and a pick-up truck on Foster Maineville Road in the Village of Maineville that killed the Mayor of Maineville, William V. Shearer.

About 7:30 pm Monday, the Lebanon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol received a call of a serious injury crash between a lawn mower and a pick-up truck.

The investigation revealed that a 2019 black Ford F-150 Truck driven by a 30 year-old Morrow woman was traveling west on Foster Maineville Road in the Village of Maineville. A 2014 red Gravely Zero Turn Lawn Mower driven by Shearer, age 82 of Maineville, was also traveling west on Foster Maineville Road. The F-150 struck the Zero Turn from behind.

The driver of the F-150 was taken to Bethesda Arrow Springs Hospital with minor injuries and Shearer was care-flighted to Miami Valley Hospital with a severe head injury. Shearer was pronounced deceased from his injuries at Miami Valley. The F-150 driver was treated and released from Bethesda Arrow Springs.

Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in this crash. The crash remains under investigation.
