( Warren County ) - The defense is expected to start presenting its case on Tuesday as prosecutors late Monday afternoon rested their case in chief.
20-Year-Old Brooke Skylar Richardson is accused of killing and burying her newborn daughter in her parents' Carlisle backyard in 2017. In a video of her second interview with police, she told investigators that the baby might have moved, cried, or gurgled. In that video, she also admits she tried to "cremate the baby just a little," something she previously insisted she did not do.
Prosecutors say Richardson killed and buried the unwanted baby after hiding her pregnancy. A medical examiner ruled that the baby died from homicidal violence, though part of that ruling comes from Richardson's admissions to police. Her defense attorneys say investigators pressured Richardson into admitting to things she did not do.
