Butler County Sheriff: Owner of Dog Found Injured Made Up Story

The Butler County Sheriff's Office Monday said its investigation found that the owner of a dog that was said to be found with its muzzle taped shut and throat cut was the person who said they discovered the dog and admitted to making the story up.

Dani's owner says she cut her throat on a barbed-wire fence. When they realized they couldn't afford veterinarian care, that was when they came up with the story to get that care for free.

The owner also admitted that the part about her muzzle being shut with duct tape was false.

Dani's muzzle appeared injured due to her wearing a muzzle several hours a day because she chewed up items in the owner's home and was said to be aggressive towards other dogs in the house.

Sheriff Richard K. Jones said in a press release "After the investigation was completed it was determined that this incident did not occur in Butler County, but we will make a joint effort to work with the adjacent jurisdiction to ensure this case is dealt with appropriately."
