NKU Receives $2 Million To Fight Drug Addiction

(Highland Heights) - Northern Kentucky University has received $2 million dollars in federal funds to fight the opioid epidemic.

The school says the United States Department of Health and Humans Services gave the funds to the Five-Point-Opioid Strategy that helps people dealing with the crisis.

NKU's Institute for Health Innovation will use the money to help people dealing with addiction in Owen County. This area is one of the hardest hit by overdoses in the region. Despite this, the area doesn't have many treatment centers. The University of Cincinnati also received some of this federal funding to fight drug addiction in Ohio.
