Sheriff: Adult Teen Flew from Las Vegas for Sex with Underage Girl

( Hebron, Kentucky ) - A young man was taken to the Boone County Jail on Monday morning after he allegedly tried to get an underage girl to go to his hotel room for sex.

The Boone County Sheriff says 18-year-old Benjamin Margitza flew from Las Vegas to northern Kentucky on Saturday night because he wanted to make contact with a girl he'd been sending messages to for years. Margitza and the girl allegedly first met online about four years ago, and investigators say that in the last year, Margitza started sending more explicit, sexual messages. He was allegedly obsessed with the girl, saying he wanted to marry her.

Late Monday morning, Margitza allegedly grabbed the girl's arm in the parking lot of Conner High School. The sheriff says she screamed and ran toward the school with a male student preventing Margitza from following her. A school resource officer responded and stopped Margitza from leaving in an Uber. Margitza is now charged with attempted kidnapping.
