Warren Co Health: Stay Out of Little Miami River South of Old 3C Highway

Federal Cleanup Crew Spills 3 Million Gallons Of Toxic Mine Waste In Colorado's Animas River

( Warren County ) - The public is being advised to stay out of a section of the Little Miami River for the time being.

On Wednesday, the Warren County Health District put out a warning to people: do not enter the Little Miami River in the area south of Old 3C Highway until further notice. It's because of a breach in a sewer main near the intersection of Old 3C and Socialville-Foster Road. Wastewater is being temporarily redirected in the area.

The district says testing will be conducted to identify any spike in bacteria in the water. People should also not fish in that part of the river, either.

Parasites, viruses, and bacteria in the water can cause a range of illnesses and conditions including diarrhea, dysentery, and hepatitis A. The health district says having contaminated wastewater come in contact with an open wound can also make you sick.
