Hoxworth Blood Center Is Asking For Help

(Cincinnati,OH)- Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati is requesting the public's help after a shortage in blood. The summer months have put a damper on the blood supply. All available donors are asked to donate blood and platelets immediately.

Cara Nicolas, with the Hoxworth Blood Center reports, "There is a higher usage and lower donor turn out..... So with higher usage in the summer months we are dealing with more trauma, car accidents and scheduled surgeries." Since school is out for the summer months, local area high schools kept the shelves stocked after holding school blood drives. Cara Nicolas explains," If a tragic accident were to happen in Cincinnati, we would not be prepared."

Hoxworth Blood Center will be holding a blood drive today starting at 2 p.m. in the City of Monroe at the City Hall building on 233 South Main St. Every person that donates blood today will be given a pair of Reds tickets for a future game.
