Archdiocese: 'Serious Mistakes' Responding To Concerns Over Priest

Catholic priest on altar praying during mass

(Cincinnati) - The Archdiocese of Cincinnati says they made serious mistakes when it came to responding to concerns over Reverend Geoff Drew.

New information was provided today about what lead to the man's leave from St.Ignatius of Loyola that started at the end of last month. Officials say they received complaints from those at St. Maximilian Kolbe about Drew giving unwanted bear hugs, shoulder massages, patting above the knee and making inappropriate comments toward teenage boys.

Drew will not be returning to the school. Archbishop Dennis Schnurr said the diocese should've launched a third-party investigations into allegations in 2013 and 2015. He says they also should've put restrictions on Drew and his interactions with kids in 2018. In the future any priests facing allegations will be put on leave pending an investigation.
