UPDATE - Shooting in Dayton's Oregon District

UPDATE: Dayton Police Lt Matt Carper says nine people were killed and 16 wounded after a gunman opened fire along East 5th St in Dayton's Oregon District around 1am Sunday morning.

Carper says officers were already on patrol and in the area, and the suspect was killed by multiple responding officers. Despite earlier reports of a possible second gunman, Carper says there is no more threat to the public. The gunman used what investigators are describing as a "long gun."

FBI agents are also on scene.

Carper says there was a "very short timeline of violence," thanks to police. No information has been released about the suspect.

( Dayton, Ohio ) - Police were called to the Oregon District for multiple people shot early Sunday morning.

According to reports, at least 10 people are dead in the area of East 5th St and Wayne Ave, with others wounded.

The Dayton Daily News is reporting it happened in the area of Ned Peppers Bar on East 5th.

There are unconfirmed reports that the shooter was someone who was denied entry into the bar. There are similarly unconfirmed reports of police looking for a second shooter who may have fled in a dark-colored Jeep.
