Trying To Stay Cool As Triple Digit Temperatures Enter The Tri State

(700 WLW)- Heat Index values at 100 to 104 in the Tri State on Thursday. Near or just above 105 due to temperatures in the mid 90s and dewpoints in the mid 70s for Friday and Saturday. Thursday afternoon and early evening there will be a Heat Advisory. Friday afternoon into early evening, and again Saturday afternoon into early evening for the Excessive Heat Watch. Heat stroke, heat exhaustion and other heat related illnesses will be possible, especially if you spend a significant amount of time outdoors, or are involved in any strenuous outdoor activity.

Reduce outdoor activities, especially from mid-morning through the afternoon. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing and drink plenty of water. If possible, spend more time in air conditioned or well ventilated places. To reduce risk during outdoor work the Occupational Safety andHealth Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency, call 911.
