(Florence, KY) - On June 29, 2019 at approximately 5:12 pm, Boone County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the 8200 of Rose Petal Drive in unincorporated Florence for a report of a missing autistic boy. Tragically, within minutes of initial report, he was found unconscious in a neighbor’s pool and later pronounced deceased at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence.
Madou Ba, 11, of Rose Petal Drive, had ventured outside of his residence and was last seen by his family approximately 20 minutes prior to them realizing that he was missing. Once it was realized that he was missing, Madou’s family immediately dialed 911. When deputies arrived on scene it was learned that Madou’s family went to a neighbor’s residence which had a pool enclosed by fence in their backyard and requested that the neighbor check their backyard and around the pool in hopes of locating him. The neighbor walked out onto their back deck and immediately witnessed Madou submerged in the pool. The neighbor jumped off of the deck and retrieved an unconscious Madou from the pool and immediately began CPR.
Madou was transported to St. Elizabeth in Florence by ground. Shortly after arriving at the Emergency Room, Madou was pronounced deceased.
Early indications suggest that this is nothing more than a tragic accident. Investigators learned that Madou was drawn to water and that Madou had taken his shirt off prior entering his neighbor’s backyard. Lastly it’s believed that Madou jumped over a shared fence with his neighbor before entering the pool.
