CPS: Two High Schools will Start Later in 2019

( Cincinnati ) - An announcement Wednesday afternoon from Cincinnati Public Schools will mean students at two high schools can sleep in a little later this upcoming school year.

The district started taking online public comment in April on the pros and cons of starting class later in the morning. Some 1,200 students, parents, and others posted their thoughts. And after four weeks followed by analysis by the district, CPS says Gilbert A Date High School and Western Hills University High School will start at 8am for the 2019-202 school year.

CPS' summary report on school start times says "research shows that a later school start time improves students' health."

The 2019-2020 school year for Cincinnati Public begins August 19.
