( Cincinnati ) - It's an opportunity to honor a man who served this weekend.
Korean War Veteran Hezekiah Perkins is being buried at Spring Grove Cemetery on Saturday, and because he has no family who can attend the service, the cemetery is putting the word out for the public to participate.
Perkins prearranged and paid for his funeral more than 20 years ago, but people are invited to attend the service this Saturday afternoon. Members of the Spring Grove family will act as pallbearers. There will be a procession to the burial site starting at 2:45pm with a service to start at 3:00pm.
"Their biggest concern was that he was going to get his military honors, and so we're making sure that's going to happen," said Skip Phelps, Director of Funeral Services for Spring Grove about the family members of Perkins who've been in touch.
Perkins will be laid to rest in Section 137 Lot 318 Space 1 with full military honors.
