( Cincinnati ) - Calling him a flight risk with active warrants, US Magistrate Karen Litkovitz on Tuesday ordered a man who said he was a missing juvenile who just escaped his captors held without bond.
23-Year-Old Brian Rini is accused of lying to federal investigators. He told police in Newport last week that he was Timmothy Pitzen, a child who went missing in 2011 at the age of 6. Pitzen would be 14 now, and Rini claimed he was that boy and that he had just run from two large men who had been holding him captive.
A DNA test showed that he is not Pitzen.
In a hearing on Tuesday, the judge cited Rini's mental state and lack of a permanent address as other reasons why she didn't want him free before trial. Another hearing is set for later this month.
