Sheriff: Deputy Dies after Off-Duty Crash

( Hamilton County ) - Sheriff Jim Neil says thoughts and prayers from the department are being offered to the family of a deputy who died Monday morning.

Special Deputy Camen Ray Alexander was off duty when he was involved in a crash in Colerain Twp. The sheriff says the 24-year-old was the passenger in a Jeep headed north on Poole Road near Springdale Road when the driver allegedly lost control and struck a utility pole. We're waiting on more from investigators about that 23-year-old alleged driver.

Alexander was appointed to the Special Deputy Division in 2015. The sheriff describes that division as being made up of deputies who volunteer their time.

There's no word yet on any memorial or funeral plans for the young man.
