( Cincinnati ) - The story of the man accused of being high on drugs when his pickup truck fatally struck a toddler has now ended with further tragedy.
The Hamilton County Sheriff released a statement Wednesday night saying that 31-year-old Satwinder Singh was found unresponsive in his jail cell on Tuesday afternoon after possibly overdosing on an unknown substance. He was taken to UC Medical Center in critical condition. Word on Thursday, Singh died.
Singh was in jail after he allegedly struck a toddler in a stroller on the sidewalk along Hopple St on December 30, 2018. Singh was allegedly under the influence of drugs at the time and was driving on a suspended license because of an alleged drug arrest just the week before in Newport. The day after the collision on Hopple, 2-year-old Dameon Turner died from his injuries. Not long after, Singh was indicted on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident.
The Hamilton County Heroin Task Force is investigating Singh's death.
