Text To 911 Now Available In Cincinnati

Text Message

(Cincinnati) - Text to 911 launches in Cincinnati on Tuesday.

The service is the city's latest update to it's emergency dispatch service after the death of Seven Hills High School student Kyle Plush last year.

City Councilwoman Amy Murray says the system should be used in emergencies only or in situations where it's not safe to call dispatchers.

Anyone who uses the service should text in complete sentences and not use emojis. Murray says they encourage everyone to always call dispatchers first.
