Standoff Ends After Two Clermont Co. Deputies Shot

( CINCINNATI, OH ) -- A standoff went on for nearly 12 hours, going from 7pm on Saturday, February 2, until around 6:30am on Sunday, February 3. This after two officers were shot at the On the Green Apartments at Royal Oak in Pierce Township.

Two Clermont County Sheriff's Deputies were called out to the apartment complex for a mental health welfare check when they were shot. One died and one was transported to UC Medical Center in stable condition. This began a standoff that closed off all of St. Andrew's Drive.

Gunshots were heard throughout Saturday night and Sunday morning as negotiations continued with the single suspect, who barricaded himself inside the apartment. The scene was deemed dangerous by law enforcement and everyone was evacuated that could be. Even members of the media were moved down the road, over a mile away.

The suspect was taken into custody at about 6:35am. No other details were released.
