Hamilton County: Drug Overdoses Are Spiking Right Now

(Cincinnati) - Hamilton County is issuing a public health alert today because of a spike in drug overdoses.

They say there's been an increase in emergency room visits since 6 a.m. Wednesday for overdose-related issues.

Hamilton County Public Health, the Hamilton County Heroin Coalition and Cincinnati Health Department all say 911 dispatch records from Tuesday also show a spike.

It's likely that heroin is being sold on the streets that is also mixed with synthetic drugs like fentanyl or carfentanil.

Health officials urge anyone who is using to not do so alone and say carriers of Narcan should take extra doses with them.
