Man Fatally Shot during Christmas Eve Robbery Attempt

( Fairfield Twp ) - Police spent part of the afternoon on Christmas Eve looking for the gunman in an attempted robbery that led to a deadly shooting.

Just before 2pm, officers were sent to a report of a shooting on Waterfowl Lane at the Tyler's Creek Apartments. A statement from the department says two men sitting in a car were approached by a suspect who tried to rob them. The suspect allegedly pulled a gun and fired several shots, hitting the car's passenger. That passenger was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The suspect was last seen running westbound across Wildbranch Road toward Gateway Avenue. He's described as a black man in his late teens to early 20s, 5 foot 6, skinny, with short afro hair, wearing black clothing and a black hoodie.
