Sheriff Identifies Driver Who Hit Officer Then Fled

Hamilton County Sheriff

(Springfield Township) - Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Neil has identified the driver of the hit-and-run that injured a sheriff's deputy in Springfield Township last night.

Daniel Reynolds of Fairfield hit Deputy Curtis Taylor on Hamilton Avenue while Taylor was working a traffic detail.

Taylor has spent 21-years at the sheriff's office, staring as a jail staff member before becoming a patrol officer.

Neil says Reynolds was driving in a construction zone when he hit Taylor then dragged him and drove away.  This happened in the area of Sevenhills Drive.

Taylor is in the hospital in critical, but stable condition.

Reynolds is facing a felony charge for leaving the scene of an accident.
