New Voting System for Hamilton County Next Year

( Hamilton County ) - Next year, a new voting system will be in place in Hamilton County.

The Board of Elections announced on Wednesday that it has selected Hart InterCivic's Verity Voting System. The Hart InterCivic HVS voting system has been used countywide since 2006, and while it's nearing the end of its life cycle, the board says it's being proactive in choosing a replacement.

"Verity was a unanimous bipartisan choice," said Director Sherry Poland in the statement. "Our due diligence began in 2017 as we viewed demonstrations from each vendor." Mock elections were held to test various equipment earlier this year.

The new voting system will continue to utilize paper ballots, and the board says disabled voters will be able to vote more independently using this new system.

The new system is expected to debut in the May, 2019, election.
