(Frankfort, KY) - A new flu prevention campaign launched on Tuesday in Kentucky.
The Kentucky Medical Association is teaming up with the Partnership for a Healthy Kentucky for the Focus on the Flu initiative.
Spokeswoman Emily Schott says they'll combat the flu in three ways.
Kentuckians will be encouraged to get a flu shot, go to the doctor when they get sick and to make sure they are washing their hands to help prevent the spread of the illness.
Statewide Flu Shot Day will be held on Wednesday September 26 and those who get a shot are asked to post a selfie afterward and use the hashtag #GotMyShot.
At least 325 people died from the flu last year in Kentucky. More than 10,000 people in the Bluegrass State got the flu in 2017.
