Sheriff: Suspect Fired at Deputies During Chase

( Mt Orab ) - Two men are in custody after a chase where shots were fired on Sunday night.

The Brown County Sheriff says a deputy pulled over an SUV on New Harmony Salem Road just after 8pm on Sunday, and as the deputy was getting out of his vehicle, the SUV drove into a yard and back onto the road and tried to get away. That led to a chase that hit 80 miles per hour, and at one point, someone in the vehicle fired a shot that hit the deputy's cruiser. A second cruiser joined the pursuit, but was not struck by gunfire.

Eventually, the SUV overturned and crashed in a yard on Maple Grove Road. The alleged driver, 36-year-old Michael Hall (above) is accused of trying to run on foot, but was captured. Another man, 37-year-old Daniel Allen (below), was also taken in to custody.

Both men were treated for injuries at the hospital before they were taken to the Brown County Jail. They're facing a variety of charges.
