( Cincinnati ) - City Councilman PG Sittenfeld is asking the people of the city to come together to honor and mourn the victims lost in Thursday morning's shooting downtown and also to affirm that Fountain Square will not be defined by an act of violence.
He says representatives of Fifth Third Bank will ask people to gather on Fountain Square at 4pm Friday to issue a statement and mourn the victims. That'll be followed by a candle vigil with song organized by the United Way of Greater Cincinnati.
"The goal is to come together and remind each other that one evil, cowardly person... that's not what defines our city. We are a strong city, we're a loving city, we're a city that takes care of one another, and we want to reclaim the sacred space that is Fountain Square to affirm that message," Sittenfeld told 700WLW News in a phone interview Thursday evening.
