Pollitt Family Crash: Greis Sentenced To 20 Years

Gavel

(Covington) -  A Kentucky judge sentenced Daniel Greis to 20 years behind bars.

Gries was found guilty of five counts of murder by a jury in June after he crashed into the Pollitt family's car last October.

The incident happened on Staffordsburg Road and killed Rodney Pollitt, Samantha Malohn and their three kids, Hailieann, Brendan and Callie.

Gries was going 86 mph in a 55 mph zone when he crossed the double yellow line on the road.  He had a double bourbon before the crash and said he smoked marijuana earlier that day.

He faced a minimum of 20 years in prison and a maximum of life in prison.
