Federal Judge: Downtown Homeless Camp Can Stay

Cincinnati Homeless Encampment

(Cincinnati)  -  The tent city on Reading Road in downtown Cincinnati doesn’t have to leave the area just yet.

U.S. district court Judge Timothy Black put a temporary hold on a Hamilton County judge’s decision that would block homeless camps in certain parts of Cincinnati.

It’s a decision that came after the Greater Cincinnati Homeless Coalition changed its federal lawsuit against Cincinnati.

The Greater Cincinnati Homeless Coalition amended its lawsuit on Wednesday and now say they’re suing Hamilton County, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters, The Court of Common Pleas and The City Of Cincinnati.

At first the tent city popped up in the area of Third Street and then moved near Jack Casino on Reading Road.  A Hamilton County judge signed an order yesterday that would prevent the camp from setting up anywhere between Interstate 71 and 75 or anywhere south of the Norwood Lateral.
