Lakota West Mourns the Loss of a Student

( WEST CHESTER, OH ) -- The Lakota West School District is mourning the loss of Matt Stratman, 15, who would have been a sophomore this coming school year. After the annual lacrosse alumni game on June 9, Stratman developed bleeding in his brain and had to be taken to the hospital.

Three weeks to the day of his injury, Stratman passed away in the hospital. His mother, Julie Stratman, released a statement on June 30 saying, "This morning our son Matt took his last breath as the sun was coming up. Ron & I were at his side holding him as his heart stopped beating. We will forever have a void in our family. I miss you Matt Man. Thank you for all the love, support and prayers."

The community gathered at the Lakota West High School football stadium at 8PM, June 30, to honor Matt Stratman. Centre Pointe Church has grief counselors on-hand from 2-4PM on July 1.
