( Covington, Kentucky ) - Sheriff Charles Korzenborn says his office has received calls recently that scammers have been dialing phones in Kenton County recently.
A statement by the sheriff on Tuesday says people have reported calls that they missed jury duty. Another report claimed they were told the IRS had an immediate issue, and a third scam call warned of a problem with the Civil Process Division. The sheriff says any notifications from those groups will come in the mail or in person; never over the phone.
One of the scam call numbers was allegedly 859-592-9060, a number that, when searched online, comes back as being a "Spam" caller. Sheriff Korzenborn says the scammers can sound very convincing, but do not engage them at all.
For multiple nuisance calls, you should contact Kentucky Attorney General Andy Beshear's Office of Consumer Protection at 888-432-9257.
