Teacher Accused of Taking Over $100,000 Indicted

Bryan Bentley

( Clermont County ) - The sheriff says a teacher from Union Township is accused of taking over $100,000 over a nearly two year period.

A grand jury Tuesday indicted 37-year-old Bryan Bentley on two felony counts of grand theft. A statement from Sheriff Robert Leahy says, from January 2015 to October 2017, Bentley took $52,000 from the Future Business Leaders of America in Kentucky in his role as the student group's treasurer. The sheriff says that as deputies were investigating that case, Fifth Third Bank contacted them to report Bentley was cashing checks in Clermont County drawn on a closed account linked to Ryle High School. Those checks were worth another $50,000.

The statement says Bentley has already been fired from Ryle High School.

He's got a pretrial hearing set for June 27.
