A Cincinnati Killer Will Stay on Death Row

Robert Van Hook will remain on death row in Ohio. The Parole Board is recommending that the governor deny clemency for the killer who was sentenced to die back in 1985. Van Hook was put on death row for the murder of David Self. Van Hook was convicted of killing and robbing Self after picking him up at a gay bar in downtown Cincinnati.

Police say Van Hook had been preying on gay men for some time luring them with an offer of sex into secluded spots where he would rob and beat them. Van Hook's execution is scheduled for July 18th at the Southern Ohio Correctional facility in Lucasville.
