Lannis Timmons

( Cincinnati ) - Lannis Timmons has resigned from the Cincinnati Public School District's Board of Education.

Timmons turned in his resignation Wednesday and it's effective immediately, CPS said in a Thursday release.

"I have enjoyed working with the various community leaders and dedicated individuals on the CPS School Board," Timmons wrote in his resignation letter. "I have found a path more suited for my goals and objectives of helping young people and kids in the Cincinnati community."

Timmons had been on the school board since October 2017 when he was appointed to replace Chris Nelms after he passed away.

The Cincinati School Board is required to fill Timmons' position no later than June 1.
