NKy Sheriff: 'Do Not Engage Scam Callers!'

( Kenton County, Kentucky ) - The Chief Deputy of the Kenton County Sheriff's Office is warning people about a new scam he's been getting reports on lately.

People are getting both calls and text messages from someone claiming to be a member of law enforcement or the prosecutor's office, threatening arrest unless some kind of payment is made. Investigators say the calls and texts use correct names and addresses of local agencies, but any kind of demand for payment should tip people off that the communication is a scam.

Chief Deputy Colonel Patrick Morgan says do not engage scam callers or give them any type of personal information. He says you should hang up and contact the Kentucky Attorney General's Office of Consumer Protection at 888-432-9257.
