Spike in Overdose Cases in Hamilton County

A new alert from the Cincinnati Health Department and Hamilton County Health Department over a rash of drug deaths. In recent days the Hamilton County heroin coalition is reporting a spike in 9-1-1 dispatches, emergency room visits and OD deaths. The advisory says they do not know at this point what is driving the increase but suspect it is a change in the composition of illicit street drugs involving opiates, Fentanyl and Carfentanil. The health department is alerting first responders to carry extra doses of Narcan and be prepared to administer multiple doses to O-D victims. The alert also cautions drug users not to use alone.
