What Can Commuters Expect Monday?

(Cincinnati, OH) Commuters can expect delays and detours on Monday as the Ohio River is predicted to crest Sunday evening near 60.7 feet.

Currently all surface parking Downtown south of Third Street is underwater and unavailable for use, equating to thousands of parking spaces. These locations include the Banks and Longworth Hall.

While some parking west of I-75 on Mehring Way will become available during the day Tuesday, it is expected the remainder will be unavailable until late in the week.

Traffic from the eastern suburbs should be aware that the Salem, Apple Hill, Kellogg route is partially flooded and will only be open during the morning commute.

The Apple Hill detour combined with the closure of E/B 32 at Beechmont has extended evening rush hour on Beechmont past 7:00 PM.

The Cincinnati Police Department and Hamilton County Sheriffs Office will continue to manage traffic along Beechmont and Corbly to reduce congestion.

From the City Managers Office: We are monitoring and closing roads that are unsafe. This week, with the river cresting and now beginning its recession, we will reopen roads as soon as it is safe to do so.

Given the amount of significant road closures the morning commute will be difficult for many. Cincinnati police encourage travelers to check for the latest closures, plan for extra travel time and consider altering travel schedules, if possible.

Commuters are encouraged to consider mass transit, car pool, or other options including staggering arrival/departure times to avoid rush hours.
