Roads Remain Closed Due To Flooding

(Cincinnati, OH) - The Cincinnati Police Department reports officers are encountering people throughout the city who are driving around road closed barricades. CPD said in a statement that these barricades are there to prevent people from becoming victims.

Drivers who drive past road closed signs will be cited for driving on closed roadway, which has $100+ fine. Drivers found driving on flooded roadway will be cited to court and face up to $2,000 in fines.

Driving and walking in flooded areas can cause death in as little as ¼” of water if there is an electrical source nearby.  Contaminates in flooded areas such as raw sewage or leaking chemicals can lead to short-term or lifelong illness.

We’ve all seen members of the media wading out into the floodwaters this week as well as people swimming and boating the flooded areas, please don’t follow their leads.

Turn Around Don't Drown

A mere 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock over an adult. It takes just 12 inches of rushing water to carry away a small car, while 2 feet of rushing water can carry away most vehicles. It is NEVER safe to drive or walk into flood waters.
