Clermont Co. Under State Of Emergency

(Clermont Co., OH) - Gov. Kasich declared a state of emergency Saturday in multiple counties including Clermont.

The Villages of New Richmond and Moscow, and Franklin Township,  Pierce Township, Ohio Township, Monroe Township, and Washington Township have declared an emergency. Clermont County leaders have set up a central command center at New Richmond Middle School on Bethel-New Richmond Road. They are coordinating emergency response with state and local leaders and law enforcement. 

Preliminary assessments indicate that than 70 structures in Clermont County have been impacted by flooding. These include properties in the Village of New Richmond, the Village of Neville, Monroe, Pierce and Ohio Townships.

Gawkers are urged to stay away. Residents are evacuating as necessary.

Duke Energy is shutting off gas & electric to individual properties in New Richmond with guidance from the Fire Department. Residents who smell gas should call 800.634.4300.

For those who need shelter, the Greater Cincinnati Red Cross has opened a shelter at New Richmond High School, 1131 Bethel-New Richmond Road. Only service pets are accepted. Eight people stayed overnight on Saturday.  It is continuing to operate.

The Tri-State County Animal Response Team has opened  a shelter at First Baptist Church of New Richmond Auxiliary Building, 1168 Bethel New Richmond Road) .  As of Sunday mid-day, four cats and one dog were being sheltered.
