Saturday Ohio River Update

( Tri-State ) - The Ohio River is receding slightly on Saturday afternoon ahead of rising levels expected to start early Sunday morning. The river is expected to crest on Monday at 59.5 feet, in Moderate Flood State.

Ohio Governor John Kasich has issued an Emergency Declaration to support 17 counties impacted by the flooding, including: Hamilton, Clermont, Brown, and Adams Counties. That declaration allows the governor to use state resources, including the National Guard, to keep people safe.

A statement from Dearborn County says an Orange Travel Advisory is in effect. That's the middle level of warning, telling drivers that conditions are threatening and only essential travel is recommended. 

Despite that, Rising Star Casino in Rising Sun has remained open throughout the flooding conditions, despite other casinos near the river closing. You can check conditions at Rising Star by clicking here.

Riverfront Parks in Cincinnati remain shut down.

The American Red Cross is updating the shelters it's operating: 

  • Alexandria, KY: Alexandria Community Center 8236 W Main St
  • Clermont Couny, OH: New Richmond High School 1131 Bethel-New Richmond Rd
  • Lawrenceburg, IN: Shelter at Lawrenceburg High School IS CLOSED due to lack of use

Numerous roads and streets in Southwest Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southeast Indiana remain closed.

On Saturday night, Cincinnati Police announced that Columbia Parkway is now being affected by the flooding and flash flooding
